National Dairy Programme Launched (October 2006)
The three main dairy project strategic intervention areas of: (i) milk production enhancement, (ii) milk marketing enhancement and (iii) dairy training/capacity building are now mainstreamed in to the new National Dairy Programme, approved by Government in October 2006 (Resolution no. 239/2006). The Programme supersedes the ‘White (milk) Revolution’ National Programme, which ran from 1999 to 2004 and was largely ineffective due to lack of resources. A Government allocation of MNT 485 million (USD 420,000) has been approved for the Programme for 2007, which will supplement the dairy project budget.

In line with current Government policy, the National Dairy Programme will be managed by a Working Group under the Food Sector National Programme. In future the National Dairy Task Force will focus on supervising project implementation.
